[attr="class","witness"]This particular faire was to celebrate the new opening of one of the many refuge centers that were being used for the new corviknight taxi service. Being an investor, Asher naturally attended the faire. He also might have been a little biased in participating in the idea that he'd given the event planner.

A pokemon battle tournament.

His shiny blaziken, named Nash, stood before him with her arms crossed under her chest and a very serious look across her feathered face. The battles were fair enough and Nash had come out on top far enough to make it to the final battle. Asher gave her a look over and made sure she was in fighting shape before moving his hand to a part of her feathers he knew she adored being ruffled.

Being that they were in private, she gave him a satisfied coo before nipping at his fingers playfully.

With a smile, Asher lowered his hand and faced the door, throwing his cape -- yes he had on a medieval outfit fit for a king sue him.

"Time to kick some ass."

River had signed up for this only because he was trying to impress the crowd of ladies nearby. They were minding their own business and had their eyes on another pretty face in the tournament - but he was apt to believe it was him they were cheering for. [break][break]

Regardless, he had managed to win enough battles to get him to the final stages of the tournament. Honestly, it was mostly thanks to his Greninja's affinity for battle than River's competence - but still.[break][break]

On the opposite end of the arena, River donned a jester's costume or something. To his credit he looked good, but he was clearly unaware of the connotations behind his choice. [break][break]

"Do something cool, make sure the ladies are watching."[break][break]

As he says this, River waves to the girls and he takes their laughter as a confidence boost. Yikes.

[attr="class","witness"]Asher was half tempted to pull out his shiny new chimchar instead of Nash, the shiny blaziken, but he decided not to be flashy. Instead, he decided to show his strength with just one of his beauties.

As custom for the battle preferred, Asher approached the one across from him, walking to the middle of the battleground and giving a charming smile. This guy was cute and Asher found himself wanting to make him blush. Just to see how much those red cheeks would stick out among the white of his hair and skin.

"Afternoon, gorgeous." Asher began with a smirk. "Fair one on one, with just the pokemon shown, hm?"

Nash flexed and flashed herself toward the audience for dramatic flare.

River, more preoccupied with flashing toothy grins and tipping his jester's hat to make the girls blush, was not expecting to find himself growing red in the face instead.[break][break]

The man across the field is suave and beautiful: River isn't blind. And this beautiful man is complimenting him, calling him gorgeous. For a moment he's floored, normally he's the one laying on the charm. To be charmed in return was a scene he'd never been the star of.[break][break]

"I don't think fair is a word found in a beautiful man's vocabulary."[break][break]

River grins, not at all subtle as he looks Asher up and down. But the show must go on, and the boy's Greninja is eager to pummel this glorified chicken into the dirt.

River's eyebrow arches, his curiosity piqued. After all, it's not every day that he meets his match, someone of equal or greater beauty than his own, and someone who is (even just for show) actually interested in him.[break][break]

He was definitely falling into a trap, he was just too naive and giddy to realize it. He was, very obviously, falling for the same pretty words and charm that he worked so hard to mesmerize his own beautiful people with.[break][break]

"And what if you lose?"[break][break]

Regardless of his answer, however, the battle would begin. Though River was entirely more focused on Asher than he was on actually winning. Perhaps the temptation to be spoiled rotten was too good to pass up, even if it meant losing to the group of pretty girls at the cotton candy stand. [break][break]

[attr="class","witness"]Sure, the kid was young. But, Asher didn't exactly look his age, either. There was an entire thirteen year gap between them and Asher didn't care. Why? Because he's Asher, and bored, and reeling off of a denial from a certain ... not that he's sour about it.

Without much effort, and with a few well timed encores and mostly due to Nash's speed boost ability, the battle was won. A few sky uppercuts and night slashes, along with a final flare blitz, won the battle for Asher. The greninja did put up a lot of fight, but not much thanks to it's trainer, who seemed rather preoccupied by Asher the entire time*.

A perk of being beautiful.

As the crowd roared and Asher was seen as the winner, he gave a gentle wave toward the crowd, before walking to the center to claim his prize to give a friendly handshake, as needed.

"A decent effort."

No, Asher wasn't about to sugar coat it. If allowed, he would take River's hand and pull him close, wrapping an arm around the young man and giving a brilliant and charming grin to the crowd. Then he would lean his lips down to River's ear for a whispered, "Unless, of course, you lost on purpose..."

River ultimately loses the battle both because he wanted to and because he's honestly not an experienced trainer. The Greninja does it's best but without proper orders given, he succumbs to the flare blitz and concedes. [break][break]

But the trainer behind the Pokemon does not seem at all perturbed by this because he's caught the attention of a much better target. The girls had, in fact, abandoned the tournament ring in favor of a bunch of beach babes playing volleyball. Or something. River didn't care to look, he was preoccupied.[break][break]

Asher approaches to offer him a handshake and he accept, only to be pulled in close. It brings a devilish grin to his face as the crowd cheers. But his attention is scattered, hyper-aware of the mans breath next to his ear as he whispers a veiled hypothesis.[break][break]

"Of course not..."[break][break]

He chuckles, challenging Asher's suggestion with a soft voice and a raised eyebrow.

"Now," Asher's full attention is on his true prize. "Let's cut to the chase. Should I parade you around the festival shops first? Or should we simply cut straight to the hotel room?"
